One Mistake

Detty Green signed the papers for the ban of the drugs after checking the report on the drug and saw that it was unfit for human use. She wanted to call her secretary when she heard a knock on the door, "please come in" She said and a young man entered her office, "I told your secretary I was your 2 pm, I'm sorry" he said, Detty accessed the man then continued, "okay, how may I help you?" she asked, "can I sit down please?" he asked, "of course", "thank you", there was silence for few seconds before Doctor Foster spoke, "I am a member of the team that produced YITA drug" he said and waited for her to respond but she didn't so he continued, "I heard from a reliable source that the drug would be banned, is that correct ma'am?" he asked expecting a response but she said nothing, "well, the drug is not like any other drug and that's why it did not pass some of your tests on it. It is a genetically induced drug that would be able to relieve people of any kind of pain. Trust me, we need this drug in the community" he said, Detty cleared her throat, "I have listened to all you have said Doctor....... ", "Foster" he reminded her, "okay, I have listened to all you have said but I would tell you that it's only a waste of time because it's my job to ban any drug I feel is dangerous to the health of the people no matter how much someone else feels it is important. This discussion is over, you should look at my reasons for banning the drug and have your team work on it to make the drug fit for human use" she said sternly, Doctor Foster smiled and brought out a cheque, he placed it on the table, "write the amount you want and you can have it" he said, Detty's eyes widened when she saw the blank cheque. She rested on her chair and was silent for few minutes,"ten million" she said, "done" he said, "fifteen million" she said again, "done and that's the highest" he said, "I want 20 million" she said, Doctor Foster thought for a while, "okay....I would come back tomorrow for the proof that you have not banned the drug" he told her, she nodded in agreement and shook hands with him.

A week later, Detty Green entered her office and met her bosses in the office. Immediately she entered, a video of her discussion with Doctor Foster was played on the screen, she was shocked when she saw it. Doctor Foster stood up from their midst, "we wanted to promote you to another level but we needed to trust you. Unfortunately, you failed the test Detty and this is what you get..... " he gave her an envelope, she opened it and brought out a letter in it. As soon as she started reading it, she broke into tears, "sack letter... " she cried.
